Aston Corps

The Day Care Centre in Gladstone Street, Aston, is very busy aiming to meet the many needs of its surrounding community.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays the centre provides daytime care offering warmth, comfort and a midday meal. Many different activities are featured on a regular basis. The centre helps to maintain elderly citizens in their own homes and also provides regular respite for their carers. There is a Ladies' Fellowship that is open to anyone seeking a time of Christian fellowship and worship.

Also on Tuesdays a children's club is held between 4 pm and 6 pm catering for those aged 5 to 12. During this time the children can take part in diverse activities such as snooker, table skittles, Lego, computer games, plus simple colouring and cutting out. Before this however, a time of Bible activity is completed. At the end of the evening refreshments are gratefully received! Over the years some of the children have enjoyed a holiday sponsored by The Rotary Club of Birmingham.

On the first Wednesday of every month a 'Nearly New Sale' is held. Here the local community appreciates the sale of clothing and bric-a-brac. On the other Wednesdays a 'Craft, Chat and Coffee' morning is attended by many of the young mothers of the children from the Tuesday Club. Here they enjoy crocheting, knitting, rug and basket making. Others just enjoy the time for a chat.
