News from the YP - Karen Farmer Well since the last edition lots has gone on with our young folk. Way back before the summer there was the Territorial Field Day followed by the YP Anniversary on the Sunday. Here are some thoughts by the YP on the Field Day:
"The food was nice!" "I had a wicked day!!" "We won a shield." "Decent weather (well for Britain anyway)." "Seeing loads of my friends."
Majors Anthony and Gill Cotterill led the meetings on the Sunday. A fab time was expected and this was indeed had by all (particularly by the new more 'mature' citadel netball team!!). But, where were they on the Saturday? The week after I asked them what they remembered and enjoyed the most:
"The Primary item (always a winner)." "Seeing the Cotterill boys." "Mark Sharman's attempt to play table tennis!" "Wearing our own 'sporty' clothes on the Sunday morning." "The good congregational songs." "The prayer time by the Singing Company." "Singing in the Singing Company and playing in the YP Band." "The sporty theme." "Beating Mark at table tennis." (Luke Bovan) "Having a good time on Sunday." (That's good to know!) "The egg and spoon race."
Not only is it good to know what they enjoyed but also it is even better to know that they remembered and got something from this special time of theirs. If you read the list above again you will see that not all of the comments are about the games and activities. Some are about how they really enjoyed ministering as part of the YP sections and how they liked praising and worshipping through "the good congregational songs".
