The Contemporary Music Group comprises
12 talented and gifted young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who meet on a
weekly basis. The group was formed originally to provide something for
those who weren't in a corps section and to give them the opportunity to play or
learn an instrument that you don't necessarily find in a traditional Salvation
Army ensemble - eg saxophone, guitar, or flute. The group now contribute
on a regular basis to the evening worship and find themselves busy in the
divisional programme proclaiming the gospel through their music.
The repertoire ranges from modern arrangements of traditional Army tunes to up to date contemporary songs, and is focused on providing different styles of music to cater for our congregation.
Prayer is a vital part of each rehearsal and we spend time in prayer and devotion every time we meet. We also meet once a month for Cell Group which consists of Bible study, fun and fellowship.
As a group we are determined to make sure that Jesus is at the centre of all that we do, and we try to convey this through our music.
