After a very busy period which included the recording of our latest CD/DVD we journeyed to Yeovil, in Somerset, for a long awaited band weekend hosted by the Yeovil Temple Corps. It was good to be able to renew friendships made when we were greeted warmly on our arrival by former Associate Officer Major Julia Johnson and Major Keith Johnson.
Following a sumptuous tea at the Corps hall (which included several
‘thirds’), we made our way to the Octagon Theatre to present a festival of music
which included The Great Celebration, Triumph of Peace,
Let There be Praise and Shine as the Light. Another feature
on the programme was the participation of the band’s timbrel group (ladies only
- for the moment!) in the march Salvation’s Song, which was very well
received.
In her opening comments Major Julia Johnson had intimated that the audience would have been much larger had it not been for a well-known brass band in the area that same night. However it mattered not to us, for the warmth and response of the people who attended that evening was much in evidence.

An unusual feature of the weekend, and a first for the band, was for approximately half the band to stay over for the full weekend while the other half returned for a full day of service at Birmingham Citadel - thus ensuring full musical support at the 'home' Corps.
Meetings on the Sunday, which were very well attended, were held in the immaculately maintained Yeovil Temple hall. We were also privileged to hold a March of Witness (uphill!!) through the neighbouring area and to hold a short open-air ministry which was much appreciated by the local residents.
