It was again our privilege to provide pre-contest music to a very receptive gathering of brass band enthusiasts at the International Convention Centre. This year, with the later start time, seemed to attract a larger crowd of listeners. Many were known to us, indeed, many are or were Salvationists. In conversation with many of these visitors, both during and after the ‘concert’, it was clear they had thoroughly enjoyed the playing of the band and its ministry.

This is perhaps one of our most challenging engagements, knowing we are playing
to some of the UK’s best players and critics. However, it is an enjoyable
occasion – with most of the criticism reserved for the contesting bands!
Fresh from our USA tour we were able to present some of the numbers we had
played in America. These included Praise Party, Glorious Fountain, Green Hill,
Pictures of Perfection, Emblem of the Army, Call of the Righteous and Kingdom
Triumphant.
