A cabaret and dinner at the Corps raised £1,200 for much needed supplies at the Army's Howard Hospital in Zimbabwe.
The 120 people who attended the candlelit Zimbabwe Night enjoyed wide-ranging vocal numbers from a group of staff songsters. They were joined by the Mupaya and Gudza families - recent arrivals from Harare - to present a lilting African folk song, with authentic percussion instruments. Former staff songster Captain Dean Pallant (Rugby) also provided solo items.
The diners 'visited' Zimbabwe through video pictures and slides - the happy faces of Salvationists there providing stark contrast to the difficult conditions in which they work. The event was organised and compèred by Songster Lesley Nicholson.
