Visit of Castleford Songsters - 26/27th February 2005

Saturday | Sunday

Instant rapport.  That is exactly what Castleford Songsters brought to the party.  And a party it was - as evidenced by the balloons, the welcoming soft drinks, other informalities, and the after-eight mints at the end!

That may seem a strange way to describe a Saturday evening concert by a visiting Songster Brigade to Birmingham Citadel, but it certainly was an evening with a difference.  However, the overall goal of the brigade was to portray the love of God and to make it very clear that it was available to everyone.  There was no mistaking the message, it came over loud and clear.

There was singing, dancing, rap, responsive bible readings, and audience participation.  It was a very well constructed and executed programme.  The continuity was provided by the Corps Officers from Castleford, and they did an excellent job with clear linkages between all items.  The songsters were also very well supported with well chosen  multi-media, and a backing group comprising piano, drums and bass guitar.

A superb sketch was presented portraying two 'drinkers' at their local pub!!  They were discussing the events of the crucifixion as though they were friends of the two thieves.  It was quite thought-provoking.

Here are a selection of photos from the Saturday evening concert.
