Melbourne Staff Songsters - 13th July 2000

A capacity crowd from across the Midlands and beyond welcomed the Melbourne Staff Songsters to Birmingham Citadel for a midweek festival of song.  If, towards the end of a tiring tour, any Staff Songster wondered if their long journey was really worthwhile - YES, it was.  We thoroughly enjoyed your message, your singing, your other musical contributions, and your fellowship.

It has been said many times, but it is worth repeating: there is a uniqueness about Salvation Army fellowship.  We have so much in common, despite being at opposite ends of the world.

The use of multimedia is growing in Army circles and we were blessed by the thoughtful visual material that supported so many of the items.  There is no doubt, this new-fangled technology certainly enhances our festivals and meetings.  One cannot help but imagine William Booth, the Army's Founder, looking down from Heaven with an approving 'Army salute'.

We trust these photos will bring back memories for those 'surfers' who were fortunate to be present for the evening, also for those present who were 'volunteered' to provide the percussion backing to one of the songster pieces, and finally, to those who were unable to attend but wished you had.
