A fantastic weekend of nurture, evangelism and worship was provided by Birmingham Citadel Songsters when they visited Rotherham Corps. Throughout the weekend God was given prominence in all that occurred.
The Saturday evening festival was held at a local church to provide a venue large enough to accommodate all those wishing to attend. The evening included many God honouring highlights. Some members of a local male voice choir were attending their first Army event and, not knowing what to expect, were inspired by the standard of the singing but more importantly the spirit behind the words and the music. One Salvationist who had not attended the Army much this year rededicated his life during the singing of Moment of Truth. Many others were encouraged and lifted up by You Raise Me Up.

The songsters provided worship in the Sunday morning meeting reminding the congregation of the Jesus who walks with us, and worship in the evening at a Praise Party on the theme of Image which was arranged with Rotherham Corps new Christians in mind.
For many the highlight of the weekend was Sunday afternoon. An open practice with the songsters was held to nurture and encourage local corps. The corps’ worship hall was packed almost to capacity with one hundred and fifteen people. One commented that, at an hour and a half, it was too short! This was a new venture for the songsters and the time and effort they put in to encourage and raise up those worshiping at a small corps will have long lasting results. Rotherham Corps worked hard to make the songsters welcome. God honoured all that was done to make the weekend run smoothly. He accepted what was done in His name and has certainly ‘raised everyone up’.
