The fact that Valentine's Day was over a month ago, and the Praise Party had to be postponed because of snow, didn’t stop the latest Praise Party going ahead, and being a lovely evening. The theme was ‘love is in the air’. A welcoming committee of boys in tuxedos and girls in flowing evening dresses really set the mood. There were red balloons, love hearts, fresh red roses being sold, special messages appearing on the screen for loved ones, chocolate fountains and a (non alcoholic) cocktail bar available – love really was in the air!!
The evening consisted of a number of games based on the theme of love which everybody participated in. While laughter was heard from the main hall, the 7 to 12 year olds had their own fun on ‘Love Island’. On the ‘Love Island’ they had the chance to make bandanas and flower necklaces. Other entertainment throughout the evening included Birmingham Citadel girls dancing to Where is the Love, a selection of love songs performed by a group of Birmingham Citadel boys, as well as Birmingham Citadel Singing Company and Coventry’s Friday Night Kids Club, who lead everyone in a couple of children’s songs, which was great fun and greatly received by all ages.
As the evening drew to a close, a mime was presented titled Acceptance, which was closely followed by a talk by Captain Mark Waghorn who spoke on the theme love.
To end the evening, the Birmingham Citadel’s worship group lead worship with a number of worship songs, which was the perfect way to end a fantastic evening. The Praise Party was once again a very enjoyable evening. It was also nice to see a good number of school friends who had been invited along. Can’t wait for the next one on Friday 13th of July!
